Happy New Years! 2011 is here

2010 is gone and the new year is here! Peace of Mind Services, has many new plans for this year to expand our services and programs to help more families. In effort to assist more youth and families, we are trying to raise funds to purchase a building to operate our services and programs. We formed a new partnership with a few trade schools in the city to help us do any repairs to the building. Anyone interested in volunteering, donating materials, monetary donations or just want to help, please contact us. With this new building we will be able to help more youth with mentoring, professional development, after school and summer camp. We will also provide outreach services to help homeless and needy families with rehabilitation services, transitional housing, food, clothing, professional development, school supplies, toys, Thanksgiving baskets and so much more. It is important that we all pitch in to help one another. Remember your support is appreciated by us and the families we serve.

Support a good cause!

We work hard to continue to provide services in our community. Just last week, we got a new referral for mentoring. This girl was 13 years old and had gotten in trouble for stealing. She didn't want to talk to her mentor, she ran away from home and she wasn't going to school. Then  her mentor told her she didn't have to talk and to just listen to her. The mentor begin to tell her a story about a young girl just like her and started sharing some details on why the girl was acting like that such as being molested as a child, abuse and had a mom on drugs. The girl had no where to turn for help so become like her mom, on drugs and evenually died from an overdose. Now, we don't know if that was her case, but it sure seem to have touched her and immediately she begin to open up and talk. These are everyday real stories of just some of what our youth are facing. Imagine how many others are out there like her. Please help us reach out to the youth, they really need our help! Find out ways you can support by going onto our website or reading some of the other pages in this blog. Again, thank you for all your support.
